On choosing the right editing platform

I work at a film productions company and most often, I pick people’s brains to know their stuff. Here’s one of the questions I asked the editors.

Q: So, what’s the best editor to use? What do you use? In uni, we’re taught to use Premiere Pro but I can see how that most people in the industry use Final Cut Pro and yet, After Effects seems really good too for compositing and stuff like that.

A: I used to go with Avid and then switched to FCP. Honestly, Pam, just go with what you’re good and at ease with. All these things are just tools. It’s what you can do, and how and what you do with it that’s important.
